Emirates Nature - WWF

Emirates Nature–WWF partners with individuals and institutions in the UAE to lobby for positive environment-related changes to combat climate change and protect biodiversity. Part of the global WWF network, the organisation’s work includes research and policy activities, community and corporate engagement, youth education, and public awareness campaigns. Emirates Nature is supported by corporate and government donations, as well as public fundraising appeals.

Programmes

  • Connect with Nature
    An Emirates Nature-WWF initiative in partnership with the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), this project was launched in 2019 and aims to engage youth between the ages of 18 and 24 through conservation activities and mentorship programmes.
  • Green Series initiative
    In collaboration with Live Nation Middle East, Emirates Nature-WWF launched an initiative that aims to use a science and date-based approach to reduce the carbon footprint of concert tours and live performances in the UAE, including flights, ground transportation, hotel accommodation, merchandise and venues.
  • Leaders of Change
    The Leaders of Change programme empowers organisations and individuals across the UAE with training, networking and volunteering opportunities designed to develop the professional skills required for excellence in the workplace, and to promote the personal and emotional growth necessary to become responsible global citizens. The year-long programme takes members through an enriching journey that offers three types of experiences: train, ideate and act. Members have the opportunity to upskill themselves to unlock their full potential, co-create the blueprint for sustainable development as part of a community of action and participate in self-led and field activities that safeguard the UAE’s natural heritage. By working together, this wide collaborative network of volunteers has the power to take collective action and deliver transformative impact at scale for sustainability and nature in the UAE.
  • Nature Champions
    UAE Nature Champions is a programme that aims to develop environmental skills in children aged 7 to 12. Participating schools can enroll their students in the programme, which includes an academy (study) component, simulations, and adventures in nature.
  • Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate, Biodiversity & People project
    An Emirates Nature-WWF project funded by HSBC that focusses on the protection and management of ecosystems in coastal areas of the UAE, including mangroves, seagrasses, and saltmarshes.
  • Priceless Planet Coalition (PPC)
    A project done in partnership with Mastercard and PPC which aims to regenerate 50,000 mangroves in the UAE.
  • Sahim
    An Emirates Nature-WWF initiative in collaboration with the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi that aims to encourage the UAE public to contribute to scientific research and data collection on local species and habitats.
  • UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA)
    The project aims to create an alliance of UAE-based stakeholders and non-state actors to contribute to Paris Agreement targets and collaborate on climate action.
