Carboun Institute

The Carboun Institute is an independent think tank focused on addressing the climate and energy challenges facing the MENA region. It supports climate policymakers through evidence-based research, policy analysis, and advocacy, with core priorities including accelerating decarbonization and energy transitions, enhancing climate resilience and adaptation, and strengthening regional climate diplomacy. The institute also aims to contribute to coordinated climate action, develop regional climate indices, and position the region as a potential leader in innovative climate solutions.

The program delivers evidence-based solutions to strengthen climate adaptation across the region by conducting interdisciplinary research and forging strategic partnerships.

  • Decarbonization Pathways Program

    The program supports national roadmaps and policies for accelerated and just energy transitions across the MENA region. Using scenario modeling and quantitative analysis, it explores how countries can pursue low-carbon development while maintaining positive economic and social outcomes.
